Adoption Process
Please use the button above to complete an adoption application. Your application will be reviewed within 72 hours of submitting. If your adoption application is approved, a member of our team will reach out to schedule an appointment for a meet and greet for you and your family members with the selected pet. Declined adoption applications will receive an email.
You must be 19 years or older to adopt a cat or dog.
What you'll need to bring
Family Members: It's important that the pet you're adopting fits in with your family, so if you have kids, bring them. If you're looking to add another dog, bring your family dogs. Cats take longer to adjust to new family, so we don't recommend cat-dog or cat-cat visits.
Dog Adoption: Please bring a leash for your new dog. For the dog's safety & yours, every dog must be leashed when leaving the shelter.
Cat Adoption: Please bring a carrier for your new cat. For the cat's safety & yours, every cat adopted must be in a carrier when leaving the shelter.
What you'll receive
Most importantly, you'll get a lifetime of love from your new pet. In addition, you'll receive the following as part of your adoption fee:
A pet that has been well-cared for by our dedicated staff & volunteers
New Pet Adoption Instructions specific to your adopted animal
Spay or neuter surgery (all dogs & cats over 6 months are spayed or neutered prior to adoption)
General health examination
Preliminary vaccinations, including Rabies for Dogs & Feline Leukemia for Cats
Heartworm testing for Dogs & FELV/FIV testing for Cats
Worming for parasites
Adoption Fees
Dogs:
The adoption fee for dogs varies and depends on the dog. The average fee is $250 but can vary depending upon each dog’s situation. Puppies are typically $350. Every dog old enough is spayed or neutered, heart-worm tested, receives the DHPP, and Rabies vaccine, is wormed and if needed is treated for fleas and ticks.
Cats:
The adoption fee for the cats varies depending on the cat. Younger cats are $150 and adult cats are $100. Every cat/kitten old enough is spayed/neutered, FELV-FIV tested, receives FVRCP & FELV vaccine, is wormed and if needed receives flea & tick treatment.
Our adoption fees don't come close to covering all the costs of caring for the hundreds of homeless cats & dogs that come to us each year. Generous donations make up the difference and allow us to continue providing vital services and second chances. Thank you for your support!
