Dogs Available for Adoption

Dax is a five-year-old Australian Cattle Dog. Dax is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered and is kennel and house trained. Dax is good with basic commands, sit, stay and working on come. He also walks well on a leash and loves to be out and about. He seems to be okay with other dogs, it is not known how he would be with cats.

Dax needs room to run and play so a fenced yard is required. This is an energetic breed so Dax will need someone who can keep him active and busy.

Kobe is a 2-year-old Golden Retriever/German Shepard Dog mix. Kobe is current on all vaccinations, is neutered, microchipped, and is kennel trained and house trained. He knows his basic commands; sit, come, place, and he loves retrieving.

Kobe has some anxiety issues and may be reactive to other dogs. A quiet, low traffic home would be best for Kobe where he can be an only dog. It is not known how he would be with cats. No small children. A fenced yard required; privacy fence preferred.

Arrooo! My name is Bubba Joe, but my friends call be Bubba, and I hope we can be friends! I seem to have lost track of my home. No one has claimed me, so I am looking for a new family. I am a young coonhound mix, maybe two years old, neutered male, UTD on vaccinations and heartworm negative. I am learning my inside manners so I can be the perfect companion. I do have lots of energy and love to run and play so a fenced yard is a must! I love to rough house, so if I get a playmate, the need to be my size and energy level. I am not fond of cats. I might not be good with smaller humans, due to my size and enthusiasm.

Bubba is getting some amazing, first-class training for the next 8 weeks at Apex Retrievers with Dane Johnson.

Dane is a world-class hunting and gun dog trainer who has built his business near Kearney NE. He is known throughout the country and has dogs from all over the United States here to train with him.

And now he gets to meet and train Bubba. We are excited to see the progress Bubba will make and ready to see the amazing skills he has after working with Dane. Bubba will be a totally different boy and we are so thankful Dane is taking him on.

Bubba is still up for adoption, and ideally it would be great if he found a home so you can go to meet him and learn some commands as well and work with him during training.

Mr T, AKA Tiny, is a year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. He is neutered, tested heartworm negative and is UTD on vaccinations. Tiny gets along with most dogs and is okay with cats. Tiny is loving and affectionate and his favorite pastime is playing ball. He can sit and shake and would love someone who could teach him more tricks.

Princess is reportedly 11 years old but acts like 5 or 6. She is a mixed breed, believe heeler and boarder collie. She is not high maintenance but definitely has some opinions on her ideal forever home. Definitely no cats and she prefers to be an only dog. A lot of noise and activity make her nervous so we recommend no small children. She is shy at first, but once she gets to know you she is very loving. She is a happy girl who’s tail is always letting you know just how happy she is. She is spayed and UTD on vaccinations.

Ringo s a three-year-old neutered male. He is a mixed breed; Spaniel? Heeler? Pointer? You fill in the blank! He is good with other dogs and cats. Ringo is house trained, UTD on vaccinations and will make someone a great companion. Ringo likes to wander so he will need a fenced yard. Ringo wants to nip at fingers, a bad habit we are working on, but due to this we do not recommend Ringo in a home around small children. Ringo is okay with cats, and most dogs. He is not fond of younger dogs/puppies, too much noise and activity can make him nervous.

Ringo will come with a voucher for an eight-week training session at K9 Coach Training in York NE.

Rusty is an 8 year old Border Collie mix that is looking for a new home. Rusty's dad passed away. Rusty has not spent much time with other people or animals so he needs some work on his social skills. It is not known how Rusty would be with cats. Rusty is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. Rusty cannot be in a home with or be around small children. An ideal home for Rusty would be with a single individual or a couple without a lot of activity. If you are looking for a companion for car rides and to hang out with, Rusty is your boy.

There are many reasons people choose to adopt pets. Whether seeking companionship, love, or a playmate for your child, a pet will offer company, unconditional acceptance and love, a listening ear and years of joy to you and your family. In return, they ask merely for food, shelter and a family to love.

By adopting a pet from our shelter, you will be gaining friendship and love. You will be helping solve the pet population problem and providing a service to your community. You offer your children the opportunity to learn the importance of responsibility; and you offer a pet in need a new chance at life, and a new family to love.

If you are considering a pet adoption, or believe you may be a fit for our foster program, please contact our rescue. We will work with you to help find a pet that fits well with your family, your home and with the pace of your lifestyle.
